Wood carving and wood sculpture is a popular medium for artists and many of my most satisfying pieces have been carved from wood.

Wood carving and wood sculpture is one of the more interesting and enjoyable areas of being a sculptor. Wood is a warmer and more tactile medium than stone and people have more of an affinity with it.

The majority of outdoor commissions tend to be in Oak as it is a durable hard wood that is ideal for wood carving and produces excellent wood sculpture but the majority of wood is suitable for carving.

I have undertaken many wood sculptures over the last 20 years covering everything from plants, animals, birds and other wildlife to portraits, lifesize figures, abstracts contemporary. Many of my works have significant local interest commissioned to commemorate significant historical events where the challenge is to capture the history and not just the physical event
